Description
SendFile
SendFile is a handy tool made for transferring files straight from your computer to your Sony Ericsson or older Ericsson mobile phone. Yep, that’s its main gig! It might sound a bit strange today, but back in 2000, this feature was a total lifesaver.
Back in the Year 2000
If you weren’t around back then, let me give you a quick recap on tech from the year 2000. Phones were just phones; there weren’t any fancy apps or touchscreens like we have now. The touchscreen era had just started, and owning a phone with a 1.3 MP camera was pretty rare!
Nokia vs. Ericsson
In that same year, Nokia sold about 130 million units of the super-popular Nokia 3310. Meanwhile, Ericsson announced one of the first phones with a WAP browser! Things seemed much simpler then. Fun fact: it took another decade before Apple became the top seller of mobile phones after Nokia.
The Rise of Ericsson
Ericsson had its best year in 1998 with around 26 million units sold, placing it third behind Nokia and Motorola. They stayed in that spot for a couple more years until they partnered up with Sony in 2001 to take on big names like Samsung and LG.
The Sony Takeover
Fast forward to 2012—Sony bought out Ericsson’s shares and started selling phones under the Sony brand name only. During this time, SendFile gained tons of users because it was super useful for anyone who owned an Ericsson or Sony Ericsson phone.
A Must-Have Tool
This tool made it super easy to transfer ringtones, contacts, games, and pretty much any other file right into your phone's memory. So if you were an owner back then, SendFile was definitely an essential part of your tech life!
