Chipmunk Basic is a terminal command-line utility designed to provide access to a BASIC programming language interpreter. It includes a Mac OS X Carbon window port that supports simple graphics with a sprite graphics engine, sound, and MacinTalk speech. Chipmunk Basic is also AppleScriptable, allowing you to run programs from applications like TextEdit and TextWrangler.
The command-line executable named "basic" can be placed in your `/usr/bin` directory or any other directory in your execution $PATH. The `basic.1` man file is stored in your `/usr/share/man/man1/` directory, and you can view this file by typing "man basic" in the terminal.
When using Chipmunk Basic, you can run Basic programs without the need for line numbers. It is important to note that Chipmunk Basic is free for both educational and personal use.
