CCDStack is a super powerful software made for anyone into stacking and analyzing CCD images. If you're not familiar, CCD stands for charge-coupled device, which is used in lots of cameras, especially in astronomy.
This app works on many versions of Windows. But just a heads up: if you're using the 32-bit version, you’ll be limited to about 1 GB of RAM. That might not be enough for most tasks when stacking images.
You can install CCDStack like any other application on your computer, as long as you have .NET Framework 4.0 or newer. Now, I won't lie—the interface looks a bit outdated compared to what we see these days. But it does its job well by letting you access all the features easily.
This software packs some serious tools for processing and building complex CCD images. You get frame calibration options like dark, flat, and bias frames. Plus, it helps with star bloom removal, aligning and registering images, re-sampling registered images, normalizing images, and even advanced data rejection!
You also have handy tools for combining images and removing gradients. There's even real-time DDP display! Want to sharpen your images or tweak LRGB colors? Yep, you can do that too!
If you need more info about using CCDStack, they’ve got a great online help section. It includes everything from documentation files to processing tutorials. There’s even a video overview and some handy sample files to get you started!
If you're ready to jump in and start using this amazing tool for your astrophotography needs, don't forget to download CCDStack here!
