CAPSIM Text Mode Kernel

CAPSIM Text Mode Kernel (TMK) is a cool tool for simulating and designing digital signal processing and communications. It uses a block diagram style that helps you visualize everything easily. Plus, all the Capsim TMK models are written in C, making it super flexible with parameters, input/output buffers, and internal state management. It also has three phases of execution: initialization, run-time, and wrap-up.

This software has built-in IIR and FIR filter design blocks along with LMS and fast RLS adaptive filters. There are even block LMS adaptive filters! New DSP and communication applications are always being added to make it even better.

C Code Generation Made Simple

The new model for generating block C code is pretty neat too! Blocks written in embedded C code within XML get transformed into actual C code using XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language for Transformation). This makes incorporating everything into Capsim easy-peasy!

Getting Started with CAPSIM

If you're ready to dive in, you'll need to define the CAPSIM environment variable first:

pwd

This command runs from within the CAPSIM directory to get the PATH_TO_CAPSIM_DIRECTORY. After that, set the environment variable like this:

export CAPSIM=PATH_TO_CAPSIM_DIRECTORY

A good tip is to add this command to your .profile file in your HOME directory so it's always ready when you need it.

• This release fixes a pesky memory leak!


• You can now use the command capsim -t script.tcl, which loads and executes a TCL script automatically—goodbye manual work!


• Edit block diagrams for SystemC has full support now.


• The FADE directory has been added to APPLICATIONS for modeling mobile fading channels using Jake's model.
