CADET (Chromatography Analysis and Design Toolkit) is a super handy, free, and open-source command-line simulation tool. It helps you tackle the General Rate Model (GRM) of packed bed liquid chromatography. Plus, it can solve partial differential algebraic equations (PDAE) using the finite volume method and the WENO scheme. That sounds pretty cool, right?
This application isn't just for Windows users! It's also available on Linux and Mac OS X. So no matter what system you're on, you can jump in!
CADET supports various GRM variants. It even has a native MATLAB interface (MEX) loaded with standard routines and examples. These tools are perfect for estimating parameters, optimizing processes, and designing experiments.
You won't have to worry about data compatibility either—CADET supports XML and HDF5 data formats. Also, if you're working on memory tasks, it allows parallelization through OpenMP.
The syntax for using CADET is straightforward: cadet-cli [-L ] [--] [--version] [-h]. You can check this out by just calling the process's name without any extra arguments! Besides your input and output files, you can set log levels or tell it to skip certain labeled arguments after a flag. Need version info? Just ask!
The package you download is lightweight and contains all necessary bindings and units. If you're new to it all or want some guidance, there are tutorials available on the developer’s website for installing and building CADET.
If you're curious before downloading, you can actually test CADET online through a simulator web service!
