BlockBlock is a lightweight tool that packs a punch when it comes to keeping your Mac safe. It's designed to watch out for any new apps that try to sneak in kernel extensions, launch daemons, start agents, or add new login items.
Once you install BlockBlock on your Mac, it sets up shop right in your menu bar. You can easily turn it on or off with just a couple of clicks, or if you decide it's not for you, uninstalling it is simple too.
Here's the scoop: every time BlockBlock spots something that could be a risk to your Mac's security, you'll get an alert. This alert tells you what it found along with some details like the name and path of the suspicious item.
You'll have two choices when this happens. You can either hit the "Block" button if you don't trust the software or click "Allow" if you're okay with it. If you go with "Block," BlockBlock will do its thing to remove the threat. For kernel extensions, it'll delete its kext bundle; for launch items, it'll clear out the binary and plist files; and for login items, it'll take away the binary from that list.
We get it—sometimes those alerts can be distracting when you're trying to focus on something else. That's where passive mode comes in! You can switch this on so that BlockBlock logs all persistence events without sending any notifications your way. Plus, you can turn this logging feature on manually whenever you want.
This lightweight OS X app is super user-friendly and helps stop malware before it has a chance to do any damage. We think having BlockBlock handy on your Mac is essential for keeping those pesky threats at bay!
