BetterDictionary
BetterDictionary is a super handy open-source plug-in for Apple's Dictionary.app. It helps you bookmark the words you look up, which is pretty cool if you want to keep track of them!
How to Install BetterDictionary
To get started, you'll need to install a little something called SIMBL first. The installer package does this for you and then it will copy the BetterDictionary.bundle right into your /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/ folder. Easy peasy!
Uninstalling BetterDictionary
If you decide that you no longer want BetterDictionary, don’t worry! Uninstalling it is simple. Just open Terminal.app (you can find it under Applications > Utilities) and type in open /Library/Application\ Support/SIMBL/Plugins/, then hit return.
This will take you to the folder where the plug-in lives. Just remove the 'BetterDictionary.bundle' file from there, and you're all set!
Quick Keyboard Shortcuts
- ⌘+S: Save a word that you looked up.
- ⌘+R: Remove a saved word.
- ⌘+⇧+D: Show the sidebar with your saved words.
- ⌘+⇧+R: Remove all your saved words at once.
