Scanning barcodes is usually done with specialized tools, but technological advancements have made it possible to do so through your device's camera. In theory, all you need is to have a webcam for your device, and a good software solution to enable a process like such.

The first part may be easy enough, but the second one might be a little more difficult. If you're on the lookout for such a software application, then BarcodeCam should make for a rather interesting offering. It allows you to scan barcodes through your device's webcam, and can even automatically paste product barcodes into your spreadsheets upon scanning something.

In essence, the software is as modern as it gets when it comes to scanning barcodes. The interface is minimalist, enabling users to get straight to scanning barcodes: all you'll need is to enable your webcam, and bring the barcode within view.

The program will play a sound cue whenever it detects a barcode. The respective code will be displayed in the interface, which will allow you to paste it wherever you wish.
