autoTranscribe is a handy macOS app that makes recording meetings super useful. It helps you transcribe conversations so you can easily find the info you need later on. No more digging through hours of audio!

Getting Started with autoTranscribe

When you first open autoTranscribe, you'll see a Welcome panel asking for your SpeechMatics credentials. Just a heads up, you'll need to sign up for a SpeechMatics account to use the app's features.

Easy Registration Process

The registration process with SpeechMatics is pretty simple. Once you create an account, you'll get 60 minutes of transcription time (that’s 360 credits!). This means if you're new, you can give the app a spin and see how it works.

Connecting Your Accounts

To link your SpeechMatics account with autoTranscribe, just head over to your account panel in your web browser. You’ll need both your user ID and app token to get started.

Status Monitoring Made Easy

The app has a cool status bar menu where you can quickly choose the audio file you want transcribed. Plus, it shows how many transcription minutes and credits are left, along with any active transcription jobs.

Preferences and Settings

You can customize settings in the Preferences window. Here, you can set directories for new recordings! The app will automatically detect any new files and lets you choose the output language before starting the transcription from the status bar menu.

Your Files at Your Fingertips

During our tests, we noticed that autoTranscribe saves text transcription files right next to your original audio recordings when using the autodetection feature. However, if you're adding audio files manually, those text files won’t transfer automatically.

Simplified Download Options

No worries though! You can still download your transcriptions as TXT or JSON files directly from the SpeechMatics website whenever needed.
