Description
Atom/RSS Feed Reader
Atom/RSS Feed Reader is a handy little gadget that lets you catch up on the news right from your desktop. You can set up multiple feeds, check out topics, read summaries, and even jump to websites in your default browser.
Easy Setup for Your Feeds
The interface is pretty simple. It’s a small window you can move around on your screen wherever you want. Adding new feeds is easy too! Just type in the URL and a display name, or you can import them directly from Internet Explorer.
Customize Your Reading Experience
By default, it shows four topics per page, but if you want more, you can switch it to show six or eight. When you click on a topic, Atom/RSS Feed Reader opens another frame where you can read the summary, see when it was published, and open the webpage to dive into the full story.
User-Friendly Features
You can also remove any feed from your list if it's not what you're looking for anymore. There are four different interface skins to choose from (default, brown, red, Vista), and features like auto-scroll through feeds make it super user-friendly. Plus, you get to set how often the info refreshes—every minute, 15 or 30 minutes, every hour, or just at startup.
Built-In Windows Options
Thanks to Windows’ built-in options that most gadgets share, you can change the frame size and decide if it should stay on top of other windows. You can even adjust how see-through it is!
Performance Overview
This app doesn’t hog your CPU or RAM at all during our tests. No error messages popped up either—it ran smoothly without crashing! But keep in mind that since Microsoft stopped supporting gadgets due to security issues with Windows Sidebar in Windows 7 and Vista, this tool won't be getting any updates anymore.
Final Thoughts
In short, Atom/RSS Feed Reader is a simple way for Windows 7 and Vista users to easily keep track of their favorite news sites.
