ATI Open Source Video Driver is your go-to open-source option if you're looking for an alternative to the ATI/Radeon video driver. It’s designed to give you a smoother experience while handling video playback and rendering.



What's New in This Release?


There have been some major updates that you’ll definitely want to check out:



  • mach64, r128, radeon are now ported to libpciaccess.

  • A complete restructuring of the ATI wrapper.

  • The radeon now supports chips from the r5xx, rs6xx, and r6xx families using ATOMBIOS.

  • The return of zaphod mode support.

  • Adds centered modes for radeon using scalers which can be selected via output attributes.

  • PAL TV-out is fixed on supported chips!

  • Initial support for render acceleration on r3xx/r4xx chips (including rotation).

  • Bugs related to TV option handling are now fixed.

  • Xv RGB and XPRESS Xv fixes have also been included.

A bunch of developers have contributed to this release as well:



  • Alex Deucher: Integrated Atom code and more from Dave's contributions.

  • Arkadiusz Miskiewicz: Worked on various cleanups and configuration fixes.

  • Dave Airlie: Added numerous enhancements including fixing typos in crtc offset and improving memory mapping issues.



Troubleshooting and Fixes


This version also comes with a lot of bug fixes. Some examples include:



  • A fix for cursor offsets on avivo chips.

  • An update that improves BIOS/driver interaction for ATOM BIOS.
