Artemisia is a cool little app that gives your Mac a fresh look by swapping out the old volume and brightness indicators with something way sleeker. Apple usually nails the design of their devices, but let's face it, those on-screen displays (OSDs) could use a makeover. Until Apple decides to step up their game, this app is here to save the day.
The default volume and brightness OSD on macOS can be pretty clunky. It pops up right in the middle of your screen, which can block important stuff you’re trying to see. Nobody wants that! With Artemisia, you get an alternative that takes up much less space and looks way more modern—think iOS vibes!
One of the best parts about Artemisia is how customizable it is. You can easily manage it from your menu bar. By default, it sits in the top-right corner of your screen, but if you want to switch things up, you’ve got three other corners to choose from!
Personally, I don’t see why we need such big OSDs right smack in the center when they can easily be tucked away in a corner. Artemisia offers a much cleaner look that fits perfectly with macOS's overall style.
So far, so good! However, there’s one thing I'd love to see: an option to hide the app icon from the menu bar. Once you set things up how you like them, there’s really no need for it to take up space there. Also, having an easy way to add Artemisia to your login items would make things even smoother.
