Artemisia is a cool little app for your Mac that spices up the way you see volume and brightness controls on your screen. You know how Apple loves to make their devices look sleek? Well, sometimes their software doesn’t quite hit the mark. The standard volume and brightness overlays can be a bit clunky and distracting, especially since they pop up right in the middle of your screen.
With Artemisia, you get a fresh take on these overlays. This open-source app replaces those bulky indicators with modern alternatives that look much nicer. Plus, you can move them around to wherever you like! How great is that?
The built-in macOS OSDs (that’s On-Screen Displays) are not only big but also tend to block your view of important stuff while you're working or watching something fun. Artemisia fixes this by giving you an iOS-like overlay that doesn’t hog space and looks super sleek. It's similar to what you see in the redesigned macOS Control Center, so it fits right in.
You can easily manage Artemisia from your menu bar. By default, it shows up in the top-right corner of your screen, but if you'd rather have it somewhere else, you can choose from three other corners! It’s all about making it work for you.
Now, some folks might wonder why we even need a volume or brightness control popping up smack dab in the center of our screens when there are better options out there. It just makes sense to go with Artemisia instead!
One thing I hope they add soon is an option to hide Artemisia from the menu bar once you've set it up. Let’s face it; we don’t really need to fiddle with settings every day! And wouldn’t it be neat if there was an easy way to add this app to your login items? That way, it could just run quietly in the background without any fuss.
If you're curious about trying out Artemisia, I think you'll love how it tidies up those annoying overlays!
