AppPolice

AppPolice is a cool little app for your Mac that sits right in your menu bar. It lets you take charge of how much CPU power any running app, service, or process uses. Basically, you can limit their CPU usage with an easy slider from the system bar. How great is that?

Keep Track of Your Apps

This handy tool shows you all the active applications and background processes on your Mac. You can even choose to hide or show them whenever you want! Each item has its own PID (that's short for Process ID) next to its name, along with info about current CPU usage and who is using it.

Control Your CPU Usage

By default, everything runs without limits. But with AppPolice, you can adjust the limits using that simple slider from 1% up to 199%. Once you set a limit, it kicks in right away! You can see how much CPU an app is using after you've made those changes either through AppPolice or another app like Activity Monitor.

Pause and Resume Options

An awesome feature of AppPolice is that you can pause and resume all the limits you've set. This is super useful when you want specific apps to have all the CPU power they need to run faster.

User-Friendly Icons

You'll also notice a small green icon next to each item—it tells you which app you're controlling—and an orange icon shows if the limit is paused.

Customize Your Experience

If you're into customization, AppPolice has some options in its Preferences window. By default, services are listed alphabetically, but you can sort them by their Process ID too! Plus, you get to switch between ascending or descending order.
