AppLocker is a handy tool that helps you stay focused when you're working on your computer. Sometimes, computers can be super distracting, right? But with the right apps, like AppLocker, you can lock down certain Windows features or apps so you can really concentrate on what you need to do.
The best part? Setting it up is a breeze! You just tweak a few settings and then you're good to go. Once it's running, all of its features are neatly packed into an easy-to-use interface. And even though there’s no help manual included, trust me, it’s pretty straightforward.
So here’s the scoop: the main thing AppLocker does is let you completely restrict any applications you choose. It comes with a decent list of apps that can be locked down by default. This includes things like Notepad, MS Paint, Internet Explorer, and all the tools from Microsoft Office.
If you want to restrict an app, all you have to do is check the box next to it and hit “Save.” Easy peasy! If you change your mind later, you can unlock apps individually or click on the “Unlock All” button.
You also have the option to add other applications that might suit your needs better than the pre-listed ones. The configuration panel shows a list of apps that can be blocked along with fields for their name and executable file.
Now, I should mention one little downside: there isn’t an explorer feature for finding those executable files directly. You don’t have to type out the whole path—just enter the name and add .exe at the end. Just make sure you're precise; if there's a typo in the name, AppLocker won’t be able to find it!
Overall, AppLocker does its job really well and manages to lock down everything we threw at it without any fuss. However, it could use some added features like password protection or support for multiple accounts over LAN. Still, it's definitely useful for keeping distractions at bay!
