Application Explorer is a handy tool for creating a list of all the files on your optical disc, like CDs or DVDs. If you want to quickly build an index that describes everything on such media, using a specialized program like this one is a smart choice.
The cool thing about Application Explorer is that it runs right out of the box! You don't need to install it on your computer; just launch it and get started. The interface is super simple, focusing more on functionality than fancy designs. Sometimes less is more!
This program is built with Java, which means you can use it on pretty much any platform. However, keep in mind that it might need a bit more resources to work smoothly.
Using Application Explorer is straightforward. Just pick the scan target and let the software handle the rest! But there's one important detail you should know about—the type of files it can work with.
This utility specifically requires BRW files. These are similar to INI text documents. Unfortunately, that's the only format Application Explorer can read and understand when looking for information about what's in a directory. So, if you don't have one of these files in your chosen location, you're out of luck—Application Explorer won't be able to find any apps!
If you do have the BRW file ready, then you're in business! You'll be able to use other commands like 'Open Folder' and 'Open File.' Plus, if you want to copy the path to a specific item, just hit the 'Copy Text' button.
In terms of what it was designed for, Application Explorer does its job well—but only under certain conditions. Its limitation to just one file type for cataloging might make things tricky since not everyone uses BRW files.
