Long gone are the days when Linux distributions used to limit their users to their specific pre-compiled packages. Nowadays, there are a lot of distro-agnostic packages in the form of Flatpak, Snap, and AppImage.
Even though not all users are fans of the aforementioned "universal" packages, they do bring a more "self-contained" approach, adding a bit of spice and some much-needed variety to most Linux ecosystems.
That said, each package type has its unique way of making the apps available to users. Snap has Snapstore, Flatpak has Flathub, and AppImage, well, doesn't actually have an official distribution system (even though you can use third-party distributors such as AppImageHub.com and appimage.github.io).
That's the reason why App Outlet exists.
App Outlet is definitely a nice project that is sure to come in handy to all those willing to give it a chance. While it may not appeal to hardcore Linux veterans who prefer to manually get their apps, it is a stellar solution for new Linux users.
