AJA System Test is a handy tool that helps you check how well your storage devices are performing. It works by writing data and timing how fast it reads and transfers that info to your storage, RAM, or even a KONA Video capture card. Pretty cool, right?
This utility lets you customize your tests. You can change the amount of data processed in a test anywhere from 128MB to 16GB! Plus, you can tweak the video frame size which controls how much data each transaction handles.
One of the best features? AJA System Test automatically spots all connected volumes! You can easily select which one you want to run your tests on from the handy Volume drop-down menu.
If you're interested in testing network volumes, just tick the box in the Preferences window. It's super straightforward!
AJA System Test offers six different performance tests: Disk Read/Write, Disk Read Existing File, Sweep Video Frame Sizes, Sweep Binary Frame Sizes, Sweep File Sizes, and KONA DMA (just make sure you have a Kona card with the driver installed).
When you're using AJA System Test on a drive, it's best to disable the file system cache. This way, it won't mess up your test readings.
You can click the Graph button to see your test results displayed graphically in the drawer panel. If you prefer text format instead, that's an option too!
Overall, AJA System Test is an easy-to-use utility for macOS that allows you to perform performance tests on your Mac's connected storage drives. It’s perfect for figuring out if everything is running smoothly! You can download it here!
