Aced is a neat little tool that brings some cool features for managing your desktop. With the latest version of Windows, you can finally enjoy virtual desktop support, but Aced has been around for a while and does an awesome job at it.
One of the best things about Aced is that it doesn’t need an installer. Yep, you heard that right! As soon as you download it, you’re ready to go. This means you can create multiple desktops on other computers using just a thumb drive. And don't worry; it won’t mess with any settings on those machines!
Once you launch Aced, it creates multiple desktops without any hassle. The only thing you'll see is a new icon sitting in your tray area. Click on that icon to access the configuration panel where you can tweak how everything works and looks.
The cool part? Each desktop layout stays the same across different workspaces. So when you switch to another desktop, you'll find an empty workspace ready for new windows! However, keep in mind that you can't drag windows from one desktop to another.
You can easily switch between workspaces by clicking on the tray icon. Aced gives you 9 slots with handy hotkeys for quick access. While these hotkeys can't be changed, there’s an option to set up a general hotkey that brings up a screen showing all your desktops when pressed. You can also set up 'hot corners' to quickly switch things around.
In summary, Aced is a handy tool for managing multiple desktops but has some limitations. It’s super portable and switching workspaces is easy peasy! Just remember though, transferring windows between desktops isn’t possible right now, which might be a bit disappointing if you're used to that feature.
