A-Squared Free is a handy tool that helps you check your computer for pesky Trojans, worms, dialers, and spyware. It works to remove these threats so you can enjoy a clean and fast computer experience.

Quick Installation

The installation process? Super quick! It only takes a few seconds. Once you kick off the software, A-Squared will prompt you to perform an update. If you go ahead with this, you’ll need to choose between two newer versions of the program: Emsisoft Anti-Malware or Emsisoft Emergency Kit (which is portable).

User-Friendly Interface

Now back to A-Squared! The interface is super user-friendly and even has some nice graphics. You can check your security status or logs, scan your PC, look at the quarantine list, or tweak the settings of A-Squared.

Scanning Options

You have several scanning options available:

• Quick Scan: This checks all active programs, spyware traces, and tracking cookies.


• Smart Scan: This is like Quick Scan but also includes inactive programs and Windows files.


• Deep Scan: This one goes all out and scans everything—it's thorough but slowest.


• Custom Scan: Set it up just how you want!

Your Results Matter

I ran a Deep Scan on my computer (which took quite a while), and A-Squared found some issues. Next to Diagnosis are Details where you can see how many traces were found along with their risk levels. Just a heads up—this process uses up CPU and memory resources quite a bit!

A Few Drawbacks

On the downside, A-Squared couldn’t move all threats to quarantine—even some that weren’t Windows system files—which was kind of disappointing.

Tweaking Settings

If you're into customizing things, the Configuration menu lets you activate context menu integration, re-scan quarantined items, pick your language, and more!

Final Thoughts

If you're curious about it, give A-Squared Free a try! Just keep in mind that it’s not as strong as some other antivirus systems out there.
