3DM Export for SolidWorks is a handy add-in that lets you export Rhinoceros/OpenNURBS (.3dm) files right from SolidWorks. With this tool, you can easily take your 3D solid and surface data from both parts and assemblies in SolidWorks and convert them into meshes saved as a 3DM file.
This tool works by breaking down the solid bodies in your SolidWorks documents into individual triangular meshes. So, when you export to a 3DM file, you're essentially turning those designs into mesh objects. You can tweak how detailed these meshes are by adjusting the resolution slider in the options dialog box of 3DM Export for SolidWorks. Lowering the resolution gives you coarse meshes (fewer faces), while cranking it up gives you finer meshes (more faces). It's really up to what you need!
3DM Export for SolidWorks is super user-friendly! It adds some new commands directly into your SolidWorks interface. Plus, you'll find a neat submenu called "3DMExport" where all the magic happens.
The best part? 3DM Export for SolidWorks comes with detailed documentation for each command, along with tutorials that will get you started quickly. If you're looking to learn more or want to download it now!, it's all laid out clearly!
