What is 3DHex?

3DHex

3DHex is a handy tool for anyone using a 3D printer. Sometimes, when you're all set to print, you might find out that your printer doesn’t accept full or partial g-codes. This usually happens because the g-code isn’t supported by the firmware. It's super common when you're trying to print directly from a USB drive.

What is 3DHex?

This is where 3DHex comes into play! It acts like a host controller for your 3D printer's firmware and can help you get around this issue in certain cases. With its easy-to-use GUI, you can make configurations directly without any hassle. Just keep in mind that 3DHex isn’t fully stable yet, so it’s best not to leave your printer alone while it's working.

Features of 3DHex

This application allows you to handle up to 10 different printer configurations. It includes various useful functions for USB printing, like controlling fans and temperatures, toggling steppers, AutoPID adjustments, homing features, and moving the toolhead.

Advanced Capabilities

Other cool features include basic thermal protection and support for S-Curve and Trapezoidal motion planners. You’ll also benefit from an optimized arc motion algorithm and smart curve detection. If you've got an LCD Display 16x2 Module HD44780, you’re in luck! Plus, it supports G/M commands exclusively for Cartesian 3D printers.

Compatibility Notes

If you're using PID/Bang-Bang temperature control, this tool will work perfectly with Arduino Mega 2560 - RAMPS boards only. The developer has also promised more exciting features in future releases!
